DuPage County SAFE KIDS Chapter (Member, Illinois State Coalition of Safe Kids USA)

DuPage County SAFE KIDS supports child safety initiatives in DuPage County and neighboring communities in the Chicago suburbs.  With limited volunteer and financial support, we generally focus our emphasis on child passenger safety.  We organize checkup events and coordinate local fitting stations throughout the year.  When possible, we also participate in carseat distribution programs to low income families in DuPage County.  Unfortunately, program cuts at the DuPage County Health Department, The Care and Counseling Center, Healthy DuPage, Central DuPage Hospital, the Wheaton Police Department and other agencies have severely hurt this effort in recent years.  Our chapter is a 501c3 non-profit organization and our meetings are open to the public.  Included on this page are a list of future events, a meeting schedule and a list of our member organizations.  We invite support for our initiatives from individuals and other organizations.  Please contact one of our officers listed at the bottom of this page with inquiries!

Due program and budget cuts at the DuPage County Health Department and other local government agencies over the last few years, we are actively seeking new sources of funding for our vital programs.  Due to these cuts in our funding and program cuts at other county organizations, we regret that DuPage County SAFE KIDS does not currently provide free child seats to WIC or other low income families.  For now, parents may contact the CareLink Foundation in regard to classes and free carseats for uninsured county residents living below the federal poverty guidelines.
